Being a former college-newspaper editor, I find myself still interested in any national news revolving around campus publishing. Those stories usually involve editors who are being censored; little else about college papers makes headlines.
Yesterday, however, Editor & Publisher ran a great piece about Amie Steele, the editor-in-chief of Collegiate Times, the daily newspaper at Virginia Tech. Steele's leadership in covering the tragic shootings earlier this week allowed the newspaper to scoop the mainstream media on many of the details of the unfolding story.
